After his wife vanishes in a Berlin nightclub during their honeymoon, an American man faces a devastating loss. A local journalist becomes intrigued by the mysterious circumstances surrounding that fateful night at Reaktor.
The journalist Rosa wins Josh's trust - without telling him that she wants to do a story about the death of his wife Zofia. Meanwhile, the club employee Paula tries to find out whether the collapsed American survived. What happens in the "Reactor" stays in the "Reactor" - that is the club's rule. The police officer Irfan Sehic, however, no longer wants to look away, but instead wants to let the drug scene explode.
Zofia's father Jan arrives in Berlin. He lets Josh feel his contempt. Meanwhile, Paula tries to smother her feelings of guilt over the tragedy in the techno club with drugs. Her father, the real estate mogul Brenner, wants to prevent Rosa from researching him or his daughter. Rosa's friend Mark, meanwhile, tries to save the real estate project with Brenner.
The real estate mogul Brenner feels threatened by Rosa. To stop her, he sends a warning to her boyfriend Mark. He visits her editor-in-chief to make a poisonous offer - and to threaten him. His daughter Paula, who wants to confide in the journalist, intercepts Brenner at the last second. Meanwhile, Rosa sinks into the story about Zofia and tries to talk to Josh.
Josh tells Rosa "his" story. Her boyfriend Mark is jealous. At the cremation, Rosa speaks to Zofia's father Jan. He warns Rosa about Josh, but the journalist agrees to meet her anyway. Contrary to his superiors' instructions, police officer Irfan Sehic does not want to simply put the tragedy in the club to rest. He takes Paula to Rosa to bring the story to light.
The journalist Rosa travels to Zofia's funeral in New York. There she begins to understand what really happened in Berlin. She also delves deeper into the past of the real estate investor Brenner. Meanwhile, he continues to put pressure on Rosa's partner Mark. While the reporter suspects that she will also learn something about herself, Brenner goes to see Rosa's mother.
