1953/1954
Panorama began broadcasting on 11th November 1953 as a fortnightly show. Described by the Radio Times of the day as a “reflection of the contemporary scene” it included reviews of the contemporary arts as well as featuring documentary pieces. The second season of Panorama began on the 20th of October. Similar to the first year, it was described as “a fortnightly topical magazine” by the Radio Times of the day. Again introduced by Max Robertson the series ran from the end of 1954 until the middle of 1955, ending on the 10th of August. 1955/1956
Starting on 19th September 1955, Richard Dimbleby took over as the presenter of Panorama bringing you “ Television’s Window on the World” according to the Radio Times. Continuing the weekly listings paper went on “Every Monday in this programme film and television cameras focus on events and personalities of the moment.” The show originated from the BBC Television Studios in London, with contributions from Outside Broadcast units, Regional Studios, and the BBC Film Unit.
